Jazz & Classics presents Singin' in the Rain

JUNEAU - Get ready for a spectacular evening when your friends and neighbors step into the spotlight with jazz pianist Barney McClure in the annual Singin' in the Rain cabaret production, Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, Hearthside Books and online at http://www.jazzandclassics.org/.

Singin' in the Rain, following on the heels of a five-day intensive cabaret workshop, includes more than twenty-five local singers performing stunning jazz standards and their newest renditions in solo and group performances arranged by Barney McClure. Add an imaginative silent auction, scrumptious complimentary fresh fruits and cheeses and a no host bar - and the stage is set for an incredible evening of music and a fantastic time.

Jazz pianist Barney McClure's performances have taken him all over Europe, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Canada and the US. McClure has backed such legends as Bob Hope, Bob Newhart, and Steve Allen; and will, as he did last year, delight the Singin' in the Rain audience, as well.

Singin' in the Rain is presented by Juneau Jazz & Classics with generous sponsorship support from the Alaskan Brewing Company, Extended Stay, Rainbow Foods, Mendenhall Auto, and University of Alaska Southeast.

The 24th annual Juneau Jazz & Classics Festival, which will benefit from funds raised during the February 6 benefit, is scheduled for May 21-30, 2010. The lineup includes Ruthie Foster, Jeff Antoniuk and the Jazz Update, Ingrid Jensen and a finale by Royal Crown Revue; and classical artists including guitarist The Jasper String Quartet, flutist Robert Dick, and The Fischer Duo.
