WRANGELL - Noel D. Rea, CEO of the Wrangell Medical Center (WMC) and Mark Walker CEO of Alaska Island Community Service (AICS) recently announced that the two organizations reached an agreement that the new AICS clinic will be co-located with WMC's hospital and nursing home at a new site known as "Alpine." The Wrangell Borough Assembly last December unanimously transferred the site to WMC. The 29-acre site is above Alpine Mini-Mart at 0.8 mile Zimovia Highway. In December AICS received a $3.7 million Health Services and Resources Administration $3.7 million clinic for its doctors. Funding for the new hospital, lab and x-ray services is still being sought.
